The Edgemoor Residence is located in a post-war neighborhood in Bethesda, Maryland, USA. Recently restored and redesigned by , the house displays plenty of contemporary details, without interfering with its exterior traditional look: “The original corner-lot house was torn down to the foundation walls and first floor deck, and rebuilt as a composition of both modern and traditional forms”. The gable roof is said to establish a dialogue with the nearby buildings.
Westbury Crescent Residence looks like a lovely traditional neighbourhood home, with a twist. The twist is not exactly a strange décor element, aiming to embellish the structure or to create harmony, but an outstanding contemporary monolithic block, that grabs your attention, as soon as you see it.
The exterior materials include stone, wood and stucco. Inside, the combination of white oak, mahogany, rosewood and zebrawood creates a warm atmosphere in contrast to the cool modern style, while expansive skylights generate shifting light throughout the day.
