The Edgemoor Residence is located in a post-war neighborhood in Bethesda, Maryland, USA. Recently restored and redesigned by , the house displays plenty of contemporary details, without interfering with its exterior traditional look: “The original corner-lot house was torn down to the foundation walls and first floor deck, and rebuilt as a composition of both modern and traditional forms”. The gable roof is said to establish a dialogue with the nearby buildings.
The structure is envisioned as an open space, airy and relaxed, so you can sit inside, enjoy a warm cup of coffee or you can find your spot in the courtyard, on the wooden deck. The deck comes as an extension to the new structure, emphasising the importance of a breezy living space.
The team responsible with the project describes the Village House as: “A cluster of five wings. These fan out like a hand spreading five fingers over the site, generating a variety of views, light effects and outdoor areas. The variation means the house provides an enjoyable environment all year round and at all times of day.
